House Meeting Heaven
posted (May 20, 2019)
So Briceno made it official: the PUP fully supports the repeal of the maritime areas act; they are also withdrawing their claim before the court, and the party will show full support of and involvement with the official mission to the ICJ.

And no one on the other side of the floor said anything to dispute that. Indeed, a remarkable day, and we asked the Prime Minister about it when it was finished:

Jules Vasquez- Reporter
"I don't recall attending a House Meeting like this; bi-partisanship, no snapping words, not one unkind word across the floor, either sotto voce or on the mic. Explain to me what accounts for today's remarkable..."

Rt. Hon. Dean Barrow- Prime Minister
"All I will say is enjoy it because I don't think you will see it again. [laughs]. No, clearly, I believe that those on the other side have come to terms with the reality of what happened and are being gracious and are doing what obviously is absolutely required of them in view of the decision of the people. So, for the moment, at least, all the sweetness and light. As I said, long may it continue though I wouldn't hold my breathe."
