posted (May 20, 2019)
And from that murder in Teakettle Village, we turn back to Belize City for Saturday night's murder of Tyrick Francis.

Around 9:00 that night, the 20 year old was walking on Fabers Road Extension, along with Deon Smith. They were a short distance from Francis's home on Holy Emmanuel Street, and while they were passing near Krooman Road, an unknown gunman jumped out of the nearby bushes, and opened fire on the pair.

Francis was the only one injured; he was shot in the chest, the left side of his neck, and both forearms. Police were quick to respond, and rushed him to the KHMH. But, he died shortly after while undergoing treatment.

Here are a few more details on the case from the police spokesperson:

ASP Alejandro Cowo, O.C., C.I.B., Belize City
"Saturday 18th May, just before 9pm, police visited the KHMH where they observe Tyrick Francis, 20 years old Belizean of a Holy Emmanuel Street with apparent gunshot wounds to his body. He was also pronounced dead on arrival at the KHMH. What police gathered so far is that Mr. Tyrick Francis was walking on Faber's Road Extension and upon reaching by the junction of Krooman Road with Faber's Road Extension, a male person came out of the bushes and fired several shots at his direction causing the abovementioned injuries he received."

"He is known to the police?'

ASP Alejandro Cowo
"Yes he is known to police."

"On the 17th April Mr. Francis was targeted behind the Charles Bartlett Hyde building by 2 armed gunmen. He escaped with his life that time. I think at the time police were saying that it had to do with some rivalry in that La Croix Boulevard area on Belize City. Can you share what's police's hunch in terms of what may have caused his death?"

ASP Alejandro Cowo
"Yeah we believe and suspect that it is because of that same rivalry that is in the Martin's area."

Police have no suspects at this time.
