Senior Citizen Still Critical After Strange Stabbing
posted (May 22, 2019)

On Monday night's news, we told you about 70 year-old Pedro Chuc. He's the Carmelita Village resident who was stabbed multiple times to chest on Sunday night at around 8 clock.

Not much is known about the attack itself, but reports are that he was standing in his doorway, when his assailants attacked. Fortunately, a pastor found him bleeding out on the side of a dirt road in the village, and rushed him to the Northern Regional Hospital for treatment.

Our colleagues from CTV 3 News spoke with his daughter, who described that moment on Sunday, when she saw him bloodied and injured:

"I was inside my mother's house, and I heard someone knocking on the door. I shouted for my mom. I came out, but I knew that it was my dad. So, when I came out, I opened the door. And he was - the first thing I notice was that his shirt was full of blood from his chest, going down. I started to ask him what happened. Who did this to you? He told me to call the police, and then he asked that we call for help to get him to the hospital. So, my sister was out in the village, so I called her and told her to try and get help from there. All of my brothers were at the load, because they had the sand competition that same moment there. So, it was my sister-in-law and me who had to try get help. And so, we sent her to the neighbour, and that's how she went and got the Church people them to take him to the hospital. I understand he got about 5 stab wounds. I think that even in his hand he got hurt, and they supposed to beat him up in the face too."

"You guys as the family, do you have any idea why someone would want to do this to him?"

"I am not sure. That I am not sure of, but I know maybe like less than a month ago, someone was trying to light his house on fire. That happened maybe like 2 o'clock the morning. We had to call police and all of that. They surrounded the house, one side, with kerosene. And then, they placed a cloth to try and light it on fire. He happened to wake up and out it, and he alerted us about it."

Reporter
"He never mentioned if he had problems with anyone, or if someone was threatening him?"

Voice of: Daughter of Stabbing Victim
"No, he didn't tell us anything. Even when he reached from that house where he stays, he reached all the way to my mother's door, and we were questioning him to see if he he didn't see who it was, since he got stabbed in the chest. We thought that maybe he got a glimpse of the person, but he didn't say anything."

Chuc remains in a critical condition at the KHMH. No arrests have been made thus far.
