Dissent Again In PG Town Council
posted (May 23, 2019)

The last time we reported on the UDP-held Punta Gorda Town Council, it was because the Deputy Mayor and a Councillor had submitted letters of resignation.  That was in January, but before you could say “bam-brigidim-bufâ€￾ the UDP Chairman swooped in to clean everything up - and get those letters rescinded.

But, it was just a patch up job because the inter-council disputes persist.  Today we saw a facebook post from councillor Kevin Choc publicly griping that the mayor Ashton McKenzie had stripped him of the “youthâ€￾ portfolio.  In the post, he begs the mayor to explain why he has been stripped, and concludes, quote, “Is it because I am not one of your puppets that you can control and manipulate?  I am the only one who has the guts to stand up and let the people know who you really are.â€￾

We note that Choc was the same councillor who resigned and then rescinded in January.   We’ll follow it to see what happens this time.
