Charged For Peninsula Shooting
posted (May 29, 2019)

On yesterday’s news, we told you about the shooting in Placencia Village, which left 43 year-old Francis Eiley with injuries to his feet and thumb. Well, the man who police believe was the shooter is 41 year-old Terrence Lopez. Tonight, he’s facing two very serious charges.

Investigators arrested and charged him with 1 count of aggravated assault with a firearm, and 1 count of grievous harm. He is expected to be arraigned in the Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.

As we reported, police from the village received information of a shooting near Rick’s Cafe at around on Monday night. They found Eiley walking to the clinic with those gunshot injuries.

Around the same time, Terrence Lopez handed himself into the police station, and he brought his licensed 9mm ruger pistol along with him. The cops say that he had suffered several cut wounds so they took him to a private clinic for medical attention.

The cops found out that Lopez and Eiley had a disagreement over a piece of land that Lopez was trying to sell. That land is located right next to Eiley’s home. Eiley allegedly met the potential buyers of the piece of land and sabotaged the sale by telling them that it is useless, and that they won’t have public access to it. Those potential buyers changed their mind, and Lopez allegedly got mad and confronted Eiley about it. That’s when Lopez allegedly pulled out his licensed weapon, and he pointed it at Eiley, which caused both men to struggle over the weapon. During that time, 7 shots were fired, and that’s how Eiley got injured. Eiley allegedly grabbed a pint bottle, which he used to club Lopez over the head, forcing him to let go of the weapon. That’s when Eiley fled the scene, and one of Lopez’s friends retrieved the gun.
