Four Men, Three Guns in Griga Robbery

On Friday, Commissioner Chester Williams said that police were working to crack down and contain a spike in armed robberies of businesses.

But, by Saturday night - ruthless criminals had struck again, this time in Dangriga. It happened at a Supermarket on the edge of town, one and a half miles on George Price drive.

Four men - one with a shotgun - two with handguns stormed into the store. Surveillance video captured the entire, terrifying ordeal - which happened at night under very bright lights that make it look like daytime. Police told us more:...

"Police reported to a robbery at Family Imports, located at half mile George Price Drive in Dangriga Town, where upon arrival they spoke to the owner of the business establishment who reported to police that whilst he was inside of the business establishment, along with other workers and patrons, 4 male persons entered the business establishment; one of them armed with a shotgun; 2 armed with a short arms and they held up the persons inside and stole from them about $3,000 cash from the cash register. Thereafter they made good their escape."

"The suspects were caught on camera?"

"Yes, there are several surveillance footages that the police have been looking at which resulted in the detention of three male persons. And I believe they will be charged sometime this evening. Police also recovered a shotgun and a pistol which we suspect was involved in this robbery."

"Are they people who have been detained before in relation to crime or these are new criminals in the area?"

"I believe they are known persons in Dangriga."

Police expected those three persons to be charged by this evening.
