Pablo And Angel, UDP Frenemies?
posted (June 3, 2019)
Turning now to other news out of the Health Ministry, viewers will remember that 2 weeks ago, the Office of the Prime Minister announced that Dr. Angel Campos was no longer the Minister of State in the Ministry of Health.

Effective on May 21st, he was reassigned as Minister of State in the Ministry of Human Development, Social Transformation and Poverty Alleviation.

Persistent reports out of the Ministry of Health were that Campos and Marin did not part ways on good terms. Information to 7News was that these 2 UDP Area Representatives from Corozal did not get along well, and that allegedly, Marin as the senior minister gave strict orders that Campos was not to interact or give instruction to any of the Ministry's technical advisors.

We asked Marin today if he was the cause of Campos's reassignment, and he asserted that there was no quarrel between them. Here's that conversation:

"There is this persistent report suggesting that you and the gentleman disagreed fundamentally, and that you acted territorial in the way the Ministry was run, and forced him to be ineffective. Can you comment?"

Hon. Pablo Marin - Minister of Health
"No, I don't think that is true. He was the Minister in charge of NHI, and that is totally out of my jurisdiction. He was controlling that section. But, I think what happen is that Mr. Boots Martinez, who is about to also not continue, asked him to come over to his ministry to look at how he does things there, and for him to also help him in that area."

Reporter
"So, are you saying that you guys parted way on good terms?"

Hon. Pablo Marin
"Yes, if he was here, I can give him a hug, and everything. But, we were good. All colleagues, we're working together. Now, there are certain times that colleagues want to venture in other areas, and which he was the one that asked. So, that is what is happening right now."
