Home Shot Up In Ladyville
posted (June 3, 2019)
A Lord's Bank family is lucky to be alive after last night's terrifying shooting incident. It happened around 9:50. The family says it seems like two gunmen crept up from behind their Hollywood area home and opened fire. 4 persons were awake inside the house at the time, including a retired police officer 57 year old Ezzart Anthony. One of the relatives we spoke to says she was in the kitchen braiding her nieces' hair when the bullets pierced the walls - if it weren't for a pot on top of the stove, she would have been struck in her back. Here is more from the family.

Felicia Robinson, Resident
"I was inside when I heard the first set of shots. When I look to the room I saw the glasses spill. the first shot hit the louvers and then there was a second amount of shots. I would say about 6 shots."

Reporter
"You have any idea why anyone would want to target the home?"

Felicia Robinson, Resident
"I have no idea."

Reporter
"I am sure you are really grateful to be alive, because maybe you and others in the house could have gotten hit."

Felicia Robinson, Resident
"Yes, but when it's not your time - it's not your time."

Police are not sure what motivated this shooting. They told us what they have so far at this afternoon's press briefing.

ASP Alejandro Cowo, O.C., C.I.B., Belize City
"Last night just after 9:50pm, Ladyville Police responded to shots being fired in the Hollywood area. As a result, they visited the resident of 57-year-old Ezart Anthony of that address, where they observed the house with several bullet hole damages and some of the kitchen utensils are also damaged inside of the kitchen. What police gathered so far is that Mr. Anthony was inside his house along with his family members when he heard three gun shots and upon making inspections he realized the house had gunshot damages to the wall and to the kitchen utensils."

Reporter
"Is there anyone in the home who could have been targeted?"

ASP Alejandro Cowo
"No. We don't know who could have been the possible target. We only know that only he and his family members were inside the residence at the time."

Reporter
"He is a former police officer, is there any indication if he had been in conflict with someone or if there is a conflict in the area?"

ASP Alejandro Cowo
"No, we don't believe so but we are still looking at different information that we are getting at this moment."
