Manslaughter - that's what baby Thevanne Banner's father has been charged with.
28 year old Troy Banner was charged this evening in Belmopan and is expected to be arraigned tomorrow. Â
That charge is based on the advice of the DPP who concluded that the evidence could not support a more serious charge.Â
As we reported, based on the results of the post mortem, the baby boy died due to fractures to the head and back - what is known as battered child syndrome. He had bruises under his eye, on his temple and on his back - by all appearances and findings, the little newborn had been badly beaten. Â
Troy Banner said that those injuries appeared when he was trying to resuscitate the child. He has flatly denied harming the child deliberately. Â
Police have also gotten a statement the mother of another of Banner's children born 7 years ago. She claims that he inflicted similar injuries on her child. But in that case, the child survived.
