Guat Vice Minister in Belize

And, perhaps in line with this new phase in Belize - Guatemala relations, a high-ranking member of the Guatemalan Government was in Belize yesterday.

He's Jairo Estrada, Guatemala's Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, with responsibility for Commercial Cooperation. He and his team paid a courtesy visit on Tracy Taegar-Panton, the Minister of State with responsibility for Investment Trade, and Commerce.

According to an official release, they discussed how they could improve the trade relationship between the neighboring countries. The hope is to re-open dialog on the Partial Scope Agreement, and possible links between the Secretary of Economic Integration of Central America (SEICA), and the CARICOM Single Market and Economy.

Minister Panton also congratulated the Vice Minister on his drive to, quote, "cement our alliance", end quote,. She also agreed that a partnership with Guatemala is quote, "move towards an expanded cooperation that will create a better quality of life for all citizens." End quote.
