Close friends and members of the Haitian community were shocked when they heard the news of Jacques Wilder's murder.

"So I woke up but I dint know that it was something unthinkable so I woke up, I wasn't frightened. I just have this positive mind that nothing is wrong, maybe they jack him or maybe they stole something from him so I woke up. I go to take a shower and a little bit after the supervisor called me and he say come and I say okay I am coming and when I got there that is when I get the news you know."

AAA Security Guard Jacques Wilder was killed early Saturday morning around 4:00 while on duty at the Foam Factory. Thieves pounced on him, tied him up, murdered him then went into the Foam Factory through a back window, ransacked the place and stole about $150 cash, leaving Wilder's body thrown in the yard.

"Police visited the foam factory located on the GPH where on the compound they saw AAA security guard with apparent injuries to the head, he was being treated by BERT personnel and he was thereafter pronounced dead on the spot. What we understand that the security was working at the foam factory and that he had reported there on Friday at 6 pm and while he was doing his routine visits within the compound he was attacked by persons who inflicted the injuries and caused his death."

Our information is that the foam factory's surveillance camera's captured two of the suspects. Police are reviewing the footage to assist in this murder investigation. While police focus on this case, Wilder's close friends are left to mourn. His friend said he had only just moved to Belize from Haiti a year ago and didn't trouble anyone.

"It was so shocking ma'am because he is a good person, he really is a good person to us here, we don't have any problem with him and surely I know he doesn't have any problem with anyone out there."

"He is a loving person since he come from Haiti he normally address me as mama you now so I does always tell me why you have to call me mama, I am young you know and I tell him I just , you know, this age and he says, no mama I respect you, the reason why I call you mama is because I respect you so it becomes just a fun and laughter so whenever I would come here first thing I say is Jacques and he says aye mama and you know we just laugh about it."

Based on the post mortem results, Wilder died as a result of as asphyxia by manual strangulation. He was also struck to the head. Wilder had only been working at Triple A for over 3 months. What is very unfortunate about this case is that Wilder was a substitute, he was taking over for another security guard who should have been on duty at that time. Wilder leaves behind a wife and 2 young children in Haiti. He has no relatives here in Belize.
