Police Beating Victim Back To Court
posted (June 17, 2019)
On last week Thursday's news, we told you about the case of 31 year-old Michael Hulse. He's the Belize City resident from the Buttonwood Bay Area who claims that on last week Tuesday morning, a team of GSU officers barged into his home to search for illegal drugs and firearms, but ended up putting a beatdown on him, which landed him in the hospital.

Police say that they found cocaine, and suspected methamphetamines in house, but he was alleging that they planted it there, in attempt to justify the brutality. Well, on last week Friday, he was arraigned before Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford on 2 counts of drug trafficking. Police say that they found 5.6 grams of cocaine and 52 tablets of methamphetamine inside his house.

The details of the search, as shared with the court, are that at around 5:27 a.m. on last Tuesday, members of the Gang Suppression Unit and the K9 Unit went to Hulse's home to conduct a search. They say that their dog, "Bosco" led them to the illegal items which were on the television stand. One of the searching officers reportedly found 2 transparent ziplock plastic bags. One of them reportedly contained white powdery substance suspected to be cocaine, and the other one contained several yellow and green tablets.

They simply reported that they took Hulse into custody, and after weighing white substance and counting the tablets, they charged him with 2 counts of drug trafficking. He pleaded not guilty in his arraignment in front of Senior Magistrate Ford, who offered bail of $5,000. He was able to meet it, and he must return to court on August 13th.

But, that's only half of the story, because as we told you, Hulse is claiming police brutality. His attorney, Audrey Matura, tells us that they intend to make a formal complaint of the alleged abuse sometime later this week.
