Special Constable Claims Carjacking and Kidnapping

Police aren't quite sure what to make of the report from a special constable who says he was carjacked and kidnapped while he was driving a rental car.

"At about 3 in the morning he was driving a rented vehicle along the Princess Margaret Drive when he was stopped by a vehicle and 2 male persons alighted the vehicle. These 2 persons were dressed in camouflage clothing and as a result both of them pointed a firearm at him and they demanded to conduct a search on the vehicle. he mentioned that he thought it was police so he obeyed, and after they conducted the search on the vehicle they asked him to get inside the vehicle and thereafter the 2 male person got in the vehicle and drive away with the vehicle. He further mentioned that he was tied up and did not see where the person drove. They drove for a long time and when he realizes the vehicle came to a stop, he was put out of the vehicle, thereafter he manages to untie himself and walk to the highway. When he observes that he was on the Hummingbird Highway and thereafter he hitchhiked and made a stop at the Belmopan Police Station and made a report. Up to now we don't have any suspects. he said that he cannot identify who are the 2 persons who held him up. The vehicle has not been located up to this moment and there are certain things that we need to clear that's why he was called in to be re-interview, because there is more detail that we need to get as to what transpired on that day."

"Yes, that's why he was called in again to be re-interviewed."

The rental - a Toyota Four runner - is valued at 70 thousand dollars.
