A man is critical after he was knocked down this morning at the most dangerous intersection in the country. We're talking about the airport junction on the Phillip Goldson highway, which has seen more than its share of accidents and fatalities. And, this morning at 6:30, 30 year old Jimmy McLaughlin, was the latest victim.
The Belize city resident was on a motorbike headed to the city when he ran into a Kia Sportage which as turning into the airport. The impact was massive, sending McLaughlin crashing to the pavement, and smashing the front wheel of his motorbike. McLaughlin was rushed to the KHMH where he is listed in a critical condition.
The Kia Sportage - a rental vehicle - was driven by 38 year old Jason Pascual of Belize City. The driver in the oncoming lane reportedly gave him way to make a left turn, which is when McLaughlin allegedly overtook on the cycle.
