As we told you last night, Taiwan's Minister of Transportation and Communications, Lin Chia-Lung is visiting Belize on official business. He arrived yesterday and today he signed tow more important agreement with his local counterparts.
This morning at the Radisson, he signed a Memorandum of Understanding and unveiled a set of Commemorative Postage Stamps celebrating Belize and China's 30 years of
friendship.

"It was during one of those interactions that the issue of jointly producing a posted stamp came up. It was felt that our two countries shared a very close bond of friendship and one way of announcing our very close friendship to the world, in a unique way, could be by means of a postage stamp. And there it all started. I am very pleased to say that this dream has become a reality. The occasion today, however goes beyond the unveiling of a new set of stamps. The occasion also includes the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Belize Postal Service and Zhong Wa Post Company Ltd of Taiwan. This too has its significance. As I cannot recall that the Post Office has ever gotten such a privilege. The MOU seeks to establish a close working relationship between Zhong Wa Post and the Belize Postal Service. It will seek to do so through market expansion, improving postal services and the development of new and innovative services."
