The Belize Coast Guard is reporting that one of its own has received high marks of distinction while studying abroad.
She's Lieutenant Alma Pinelo, and for several months now she's been taking the International Maritime Officer Course at the US Coast Guard Training Center in Yorktown, Virginia. She's the first Belizean, and the first female to receive the Honor Graduate award after completing the course. Her name and country will be enshrined in the institution's Honor Graduates Hall of Fame. She also excelled in Naval Academy training she received previously in Mexico.
