Police Are Taking These Murders At Sea Seriously
posted (June 24, 2019)
So, that's 7 people killed out at sea in less than 5 days, and the police commissioner is paying close attention to these very high-profile crimes. He told us today, that he's assigned senior investigators with supporting officers, so that they can make their best attempts at solving them, and hopefully making arrests:

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"Let me start by expressing our deepest condolences to the families of all those who lost their lives at sea over the past couple of days. The Belize police department and the Ministry of National Security condems these actions in the strongest terms and we want to assure the public that we will be doing all we can with a view to find those who are responsible and bring them to justice. What we have done so far in addressing these investigations I have directed two investigation teams. One team will be dealing with the five murders from the Mapp and Swallow Caye area and the other team will be dealing with the double murder in San Pedro yesterday. These teams are being headed each by a senior investigator. The one from Mapp Caye/Swallow Caye is headed by Inspector Aban and the double murder in San Pedro is headed by Inspector Gonzalez. Both senior investigators will have a compliment of investigators to assist in those investigations. Mr. Romero has been assigned as the case manager for the Swallow Caye/Mapp Caye murders and Mr. Myvett is the case manager for the double murder in San Pedro."

The Commissioner intends to visit San Pedro shortly to offer advice to his investigating team that's looking into the double murder. He also intends to meet with the stakeholders of the tourism industry on the island to assure them that police have citizen security of both the residents and the tourists as high priorities.
