There was another killing in Belize City early this afternoon - and this time, the victim is a Dangriga resident who came to visit relatives in the city.Â
Just before 1:00, 33 year old Derrick Tracey and his girlfriend were visiting his sister Linda Tracey at her home, corner of Ebony and Sittee street when a gunman ran up to them and fired 5 shots at Tracey. Â
The gunman dashed off while Tracey slumped to the ground with multiple wounds to the chest and arms. He was rushed to the KHMH but was pronounced dead on arrival. Â
Police found five .45 expended shells - which is high powered, prohibited ammunition. Police are reviewing security cameras in the area and believe it is gang related. Â
Tracey is well known in Dangriga town - and not known as a criminal type. But, his relatives in Belize City may have been targetted by others - and when he appeared, it gave the killers an opportunity to catch someone with their guard down. We'll have more on this tomorrow.
