Daycare For Cops’ Kids At Raccoon Street Station
posted (June 26, 2019)

Since he was appointed as Police Commissioner in January, Chester Williams has been making major attempts to improve the welfare of the hundreds of police men and women who make up the department.

This afternoon, another one of those initiatives came to fruition when the department opened its first police daycare center, at the Raccoon Street Police Headquarters in Belize City. It’s being named the Marie Henry Day Care Center, in honor of Marie Henry, one of the first women officers to be recruited to the department back in the 1960’s.

Instead of seeking babysitting services for their children outside, police officers will now be able to access an in-house day care facility, located right on the Raccoon Street Police compound. It’s the first of its kind for the Department, and it was officially inaugurated during Police Week. 7News was at the opening ceremony, and here’s what the Commissioner had to say about his reasons for making this facility a top priority:

The Marie Henry Day Care Center was made possible through generous contributions from donors like Angelus Press, and attorney Estevan Perrera.
