Man Killed - Family Says He Was Chanced
posted (July 1, 2019)
So, while San Pedro cops try to sort out that controversial incident, Belize City police are trying to find out who attacked Belize City resident Errol Crown and left him to die in his yard.

The 57 year-old's body was discovered at around 6:30 on Saturday morning, at his residence on Neal Penn Road. Those closest to him tell us that he was a deportee from the US who made a living as a landlord, renting several several apartments. It is believed that he had a sizable payday, and after he left his sister's birthday party on Friday night, he went home.

It is suspected that his killer or killers ambushed him there, beat him and then robbed him of his rent payments. A few hours later, one of his tenants found him in the yard, and called the police. The cops arrived to find his wallet missing, and the entrance door to his room damaged, as if someone had forcibly entered. He also had cut wounds to the face and head.

This morning, we got a chance to speak with Dara Robinson, the well-known grassroots philanthropist, who is also Crown's brother-in-law. He told us that Crown suffered from mental illness, and he had a dangerous habit of making boasts to anyone who would listen about his supposed wealth, and his earnings as a landlord:

Joel "Dara" Robinson - Brother-in-law of the Deceased
"All we know is that that Errol rented his place, and he had major problems with the collect rent from the clients. For years, he was always up at down at court, and always stressing him. He was here at his sister's birthday celebrations. He left from here, but he had just collected some of his rent from some of his his people. I guess, probably he told more people, because he is like that. He would tell you, you know, he just got money. It seems that whosoever knew that, took the opportunity to pounce on him. He left from here at around 11 o'clock, and it was during that time that they attacked him. We still don't know if he was stabbed, or if he was clubbed, until they do the post mortem. but, whatever they did to him, they were cruel to him, and killed him for, I would say, a little bit of money. I just think that they chanced the man out of his life. It's just wrong, and what's sad about the whole thing is we'll talk about this; the news will talk about this. People will Facebook and send their condolences, but, it's like another life that's going to pass just like that. The family feel like the police really aren't putting their all into it. The information that we are getting from the house, they are using common sense, and they are putting things together. And to them, it's just to go and pick up a body, conduct a post mortem, and say how he died. But, really, you aren't getting that real [good treatment] because Errol is not well-known. He's an ex-deportee. It's just said, and to me, how I see it, it's just another life that's going go just like that, and the real investigation won't happen."

"I get to really meet Errol when he was deported, and he came around almost every day. That's because his mother, his family - we were the closest family to him. I get to like him because he's a guy, if you are stressed in the day, he will tell you something to make you laugh, or I will tell him something to make him a little angry, and so that he could go off. He turned in a really funny guy."

Crown's family tells us that along with his missing wallet and money, the assailants stole his cellular phone, and his footwear.

They also tell us that Crown had many difficulties with several of his tennants who were hard pay, and that one of those disputes ended up in court, which he was to attend later this month.
