Accused of Guerrero’s Murder, Felix Will Stand Trial
posted (July 3, 2019)

In March of last year, the high profile murder of 64 year-old Mario Guerrero Senior made headlines after he was found dead at his Sunset Park home, located at mile 8 and a half on the George Price Highway. Well, 41 year-old Allen Russell Felix, the man accused of bludgeoning him to death with a bar stool in his yard, will stand trial in the Supreme Court for it.

A preliminary inquiry for the case was held today in front of Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford. That’s when the police prosecutor turned over the file of evidence to the court which includes everything that will be used by the DPP’s Office to secure a conviction against him.

The prosecutor told the court that the Crown will rely on 38 witnesses statements, 3 chain of custody forms, 27 sets of photographs, an identification parade form, warrant for Felix's arrest, a post-mortem report from Dr. Mario Estradabran, and a copy of Mario Guerrero’s death certification.

During the preliminary inquiry, the Senior Magistrate asked Felix if he intended to call any alibi witnesses to testify in his favor, and he told the court that he didn’t have any. After reviewing the file, Senior Magistrate Ford ruled that there is a prema facie case against Felix, and so, she committed him to stand trial in the October sessions of the Supreme Court.

Viewers may remember the ghastly details about Guerrero’s murder. He was out partying with Felix, his common-law wife, and another man. Early into the morning of the following day, they all went back to Guerrero’s home, and some  sort of dispute between Guerrero and Felix occurred. Police say that led to Felix grabbing one of Guerrero’s bar stool in the yard, which he allegedly used to savagely beat Guerrero to death with.

Guerrero was the owner of the popular boat chartering service, Guerrero’s Charters.
