Deputy PM At UNESCO Meeting

Deputy Prime Minister Patrick Faber is currently away in Azerbaijan - which is in Eastern Europe. He's there for the 43rd Session of the UNESCO's World Heritage Committee.

He had an opportunity to address the committee and an international gathering of parters on "The importance of Strategic Vision in a Changing Climate".

The Deputy PM joined UNESCO World Heritage managers, global climate resilience experts, and local community stakeholders in the discussion about the scope, aim, and expected results of the climate change initiative which was launched in October 2018. The first phase of the initiative focuses on 5 UNESCO World Heritage Coral Reef properties, which include Belize's Barrier Reef Reserve System, Palau's Rock Island Southern Lagoon, the Lagoons of New Caledonia in France, and the Australian Ningaloo Coast, and Australia's Great Barrier Reef.

The meeting is held under the theme: Building Leadership in Climate Adaptation.
