Man Gets Off Murder Charge
posted (July 11, 2019)
He was charged last year with murder and abetment to commit murder, but tonight 20 year-old Israel Usher is a free man. That's after both charges were withdrawn against him at the instruction of the DPP's Office.

Usher was one of 2 people charged with the April 2018 gun killing of Albert Johnson, a mental patient.

Johnson was walking on Rectory Lane in Belize City, when he was approached by 3 men, one of whom pulled a firearm and shot him twice in the head. By all indications he was shot for no reason at all.

Usher was charged along with Marlon Everett for Johnson's killing, but today when the case was called up before Senior Magistrate Ford, those charges were withdrawn. The DPP's Office sent instructions to the court indicating that police did not gather any evidence against Johnson to prove that he was involved with the crime.

Marlon Everett is still facing his murder charge for Johnson's killing, and he will return to court on August 5th when he is to receive disclosure from police.
