What Will Jilted AIBL Depositors Get

Yesterday we had coverage of the Prime Minister's press conference on the Sanctuary Bay debacle. He flatly refuted claims made by the US Federal Trade Commission in a court filing on June 10th.

But, he also discussed practical elements of the settlement between the FTC and Atlantic International Bank - which was signed this week. The group most interested is the community of mostly US depositors in AIBL - who live in Belize. They have no idea what's up with their savings they had in the bank - which went belly up. It's clear they will not get it all back -but how much will they get? We asked the PM

We also asked the Prime Minister if he will be taking up any legal action in a US court against the FTC for defaming him. He says their filing puts him in meetings with persons he never met, and makes suggestions about considerations he never gave to Sanctuary Belize. And while the PM guards his reputation zealously, he wants no more trouble with the FTC:…

The press also asked the PM about his law partner Rodwell Williams. In the same court filing, he is said to own two lots at Sanctuary Bay. The PM says - in his opinion - it's not significant:
