The Belize National Teachers Union is making the news tonight because they are disagreeing with a directive from the Ministry of Education saying that teachers need to apply for the renewal of their licenses.
Coming out of an emergency meeting by the Union's Council of Management, they unanimously agreed that they consider the "Application for Renewal of Full License", which was sent out by the Education Ministry, contrary to what is set out in the Education Rules.
So the BNTU is telling teachers tonight NOT to fill out and submit the forms until the union meets with the Education Ministry's top brass in the coming weeks. The BNTU says after that, they'll inform their membership on the way forward.
