Killer Alwin Gabb Gets Shilling
posted (July 12, 2019)
46-year-old Alwin Gabb, who is serving a life sentence for the murder of Nolan Arana, has been re-sentenced by Chief Justice Kenneth Benjamin to 25 years.

Arana was killed on July 1st, 2007 in a dispute with Gabb over his ex.

That ex testified against him as the main witness in his trial in December 2013.

Before he decided on the new sentence, Chief Justice Benjamin heard about the aggravating factors against Gabb from Crown Counsel Sherigne Rodriguez. Gabb's attorney, Leslie Mendez, also presented mitigating factors in his favor. Crown Counsel Rodriguez told the court that Gabb's attack on Arana was unprovoked and that during his time in prison, Gabb committed several infractions against the prison rules. In his favor, Leslie Mendez submitted that prior to this killing, Gabb had no other convictions.

After consideration, Chief Justice Benjamin handed Gabb a fixed sentence of 25 years, but he deducted 6 years and 5 months, for the time which he spent on remand awaiting trial. The remainder of that sentence will take effect from December 2013, when Gabb was convicted, and so, he will spend another 17 years and 5 months in prison.
