Police Say They Had No Reason to Hold Budna
posted (July 15, 2019)
And while you may say he is bush lawyering - the police who released Budna on Saturday are saying pretty much the same thing. Here's what the head of national crimes investigation Joseph Myvett told the media today:...

ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
"In respect to Joseph Budna's detention, he had to be release from police custody on Saturday evening late as there has been no request made for him by the Guatemalan authorities, that is one and we know that he had a pending matter in the San Ignacio magistrate court which we are still looking at as well."

"Sir, I have seen an INTERPOL red notice for him. Its on the INTERPOL website. Explain to me how you all treat with that?"

ACP Joseph Myvett
"What happen is that a person will not be extradited based on only an INTERPOL red notice. There has to be some form of request made for him to be extradited to that country and that would have to be done through the courts."

Our conversation with Budna was far ranging and we'll have more from him tomorrow night. But, tonight, he remains free at home with family in the Cayo District.
