Security Guards Pleads Down to Manslaughter
posted (July 16, 2019)
42-year-old Kevin Jex, the man who police charged with murder for the killing of the security guard, Desmond Miller, pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter today in front of Justice Marilyn Williams.

In November of 2013. Miller, was a security guard for San Pedro Belize Express and was instructed to keep Jex away from the water taxi terminal because he was allegedly harassing the tourists.

Jex's version of events was that Miller allegedly threatened to use his baton on him, and so, he grabbed a piece of wood out of some nearby bushes. He then attacked Miller with it and struck him to the back of his head. The attack allegedly continued until someone stopped Jex from inflicting more injuries.

That attack sent Miller into a coma, and several days later, he passed away.

Justice Williams has deferred sentence for Jex until September 16th, 2019.
