So, we’ve already told you about the 3 murders, and the fatal police shooting of Allyson Major Jr., which all happened yesterday. 

But, Wednesday’s violence started with a non-fatal shooting in Sandhill Village, at around 10:00 in the morning. 

27-year-old Ivan Hyde was inside his home at mile 19 and a half on the Philip Goldson, when a killer barged him and tried to gun him down in his bathroom. 

He survived the attack, suffering injuries to his hands and legs. Police told us today that they suspect that he was targeted as part of an ongoing feud between 2 rival groups of men in the village. They told us that they intend to make an intervention, in an attempt to defuse tensions:

"The first 1 occurred at Sandhill, 17 and a half miles on the Philip Goldson Highway. At a 10:40 a.m., police visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where they observed Mr. Ivan Hyde, [a] 27-year-old Belizean, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to his body. What police gathered so far is that Mr. Hyde was inside of his house, when he heard the door being opened. He called to find out who it was, and thereafter, he heard shots being fired. He ran through the back door, and the person followed him and fired shots at him causing the injuries to him. Mr. Hyde was treated yesterday and discharged sometime in the afternoon."

"Has an investigator established a motive as to why anyone would want to kill Mr. Hyde?"

"We are following several leads that we have been receiving, and we know that it’s an ongoing dispute amongst 2 rival groups that are within that area."

"Sir, what steps are being taken, if any at this time, to possible diffuse these tensions between these 2 groups in Sand Hill?"

ASP Alejandro Cowo
"I know that one of the groups involved is already in police custody, and the police are looking for the other set, so that police can deal with them. And I believe that there will be an intervention amongst the two groups, however, there is a part of the investigation where police will be dealing with the other group that is detained at this moment."

"And the beef between these 2 groups is it over drugs or territory in the area?"

"Well, it’s a feud amongst them pertaining to drugs and also about the territory."

Hyde has already been treated and released from the hospital.
