posted (July 18, 2019)
Police have made a swift arrest for one of the 3 killing which happened between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m on Wednesday.

19-year-old Jovi Hernandez is on remand at the Belize Central Prison, after being taken to court for the manslaughter of the 19-year-old Honduran immigrant, Nixon Matapinto. He was arraigned before Senior Magistrate Tricia Pitts-Anderson. She remanded him into custody until September 19th, his next court date.

As we reported, Matapinto was somewhere in the Lord Ridge Cemetery area at around 6 p.m. on Tuesday. He reportedly went over to the Western Avenue Bus Stop on the George Price Highway, where he got into a disagreement with Hernandez. Things escalated when Hernandez allegedly pulled out an unknown object and stabbed Matapinto on the right side of his chest. That injury claimed his life.

Police say it was due to a gang rivalry where the accused was being forced into a gang.
