Remembering July, 1919
posted (July 22, 2019)
It's been relegated to a mere footnote in history, but the ex - servicemen's riot of July 22 and 23rd 1919 in Belize City is one of the most important events in Belize's nationalist movement.

Yet, it's been criminally neglected in school and public education - which is why the UBAD Educational Foundation and the Image Factory are determined to restore the event to a place of importance, and have it writ large as a part of Belize history.

They started that today with a centennial remembrance of the day right where it started one hundred years ago - in downtown Belize City. This time, they called it a revolution:

This is the one of the many public awareness actions planned by the Image Factory and The UBAD Educational Foundation at various locations countrywide. The next is the commemoration of Emancipation Day on August 1st and the 5-0th anniversary of Amandala on August 13th.
