Yo Creek Villagers Monitor Murder Trial With Apprehension
posted (July 25, 2019)
And there's a similar case we are watching up north.

In June 2016, the unthinkable happened in the remote village of Yo Creek, Orange Walk. There was a mass chopping where six people - 3 adults and 3 minors were injured. One of the minors, 13 year old Danny Choc died days later from a chop to the head. The man who wielded the machete is Larry Banner. He has a history of mental illness. That day in June, Banner went to his family's house with a machete and started to flail it wildly. It was a horrific and bloody attack.

Banner was arrested and arraigned for aggravated burglary and maim and later murder for the 13 year old's death. Well Banner returns to court next week and it is a very tense and traumatic time for Yo Creek Villagers. Today our colleagues at CTV-3 spoke to the daughter of two of the chopping victims. She expressed how terrified she is by the possibility of Banner being released and roaming free in the village again. Here are her comments off camera and in Spanish.

This eyewitness hopes that Banner is dealt with under the full extent of the law and is asking that other villagers support her in a movement to keep their families and community safe from Banner.
