Hurry-Come-Up Curfew Is Mano-Suave Style
posted (July 29, 2019)
And, in another topical case, the commissioner gave us an update on a his "hurry-come-up" curfew which he launched 10 days ago in Belize City. As we told you, it targets the parents of children who are found on the street after dark.

But today the COMPOL made it clear, it's being implemented "mano-suave" style:...

Chester Williams- Commissioner of Police
"We have indeed encountered some children on the streets after hours and we took them home to their parent and we issued a verbal warning. It is not what we want to do in every situation but we try to look at people's situation and see how best we can compromise in areas that we can. But I want to emphasize to the public that the curfew is a serious issue and we intend to enforce it. As I said before, we have put together a curfew team that patrols the streets during the curfew hours looking for children who are on the streets, unsupervised and where they encounter any then the parent of those children will be dealt with."
