Mutabaruka, Mystic Wisdom

As we told you last night, Jamaican dub poet and social commentator Mutabaruka is in Belize for activities related to Emancipation Day which is tomorrow.

His visit is organized by the UBAD Educational Foundation and this morning after he appears don the KREM WUB, he spoke to the press.

We asked him what has changed since he last visited here in 1994.  At the time he came barefooted, and this time he was still the same.  But he said the internet has changed global consciousness:....

But more than just complain about dancehall music, Mutabaruka also urged those who have the courage to speak up and speak out against the power structure:…

As we noted, Mutabaruka is a social commentator and also a radio presence in Jamaica.  He comments freely on a range of issues, and today he spoke about black communities not having their financial priorities in order:…

Tomorrow morning at 6:00 am - Mutabaruka will take part in drumming and Libation rituals on the seawall by Marine Parade. This is to commemorate Emancipation day.  And tomorrow night, he will engage in a community conversation at the Gateway Youth Center.
