Cops Don’t Have a Motive
posted (August 1, 2019)
And today at the bi-weekly press briefing, police told us they are following leads in Barrera's case and don't have a concrete motive at this time.

ACP Joseph Myvette - Head, NCIB
"Yesterday, sometime around 3 p.m., Roaring Creek police were called to an area in Young Bank, the home of one Manuel Barrera Vasquez, a 78-year-old Guatemalan National, who resides alone in a wooden and zinc structure. On the police's arrival, they met the son of Mr. Vasquez there, who accompanied them to the area. And the structure was observed to be locked and secured from the backdoor, and the front door had a padlock, which was locked. As a result, the door was forced open, where, upon entering the building, the lifeless body of Mr. Manuel Vasquez was found in a decomposed state, with apparent chop wounds to the upper body. The scene was processed, where the body was processed, and a post-mortem was later conducted yesterday. So far, we know that he was last seen alive on Monday."

"Sir, given that you all had to force your way in, is there suspicion that the victim knew his killer?"

ACP Joseph Myvette
"Well, at this point in time, I am not going to say that, other than to say that we are following several leads, and we're looking for one person who believes can assist in the investigation."

Barrerra becomes the second senior citizen to be chopped to death in the villages adjoining Belmopan in one week. The other was 65 year old Porfilio Nino.
