Last night on the news, you heard from Vince Martinez, the Belize City resident who claimed
that Corporal Kent Martinez shot him in the groin area. Well, tonight, we have to retract that story and apologize.
Vince Martinez was sure that Corporal Kent Martinez was the person who shot him,
but police today confirmed that it was not Corporal Kent Martinez.
This official police clarification came 24 hours after various journalists raised the issue
in the Police and media chat - with no response.
Nonetheless, the fact is, it was not Corporal Kent Martinez who shot Vince Martinez; it was an officer from the MIT - a constable also named Martinez,
a coincidence which may have caused the confusion in the first place.
But, the error is ours; we were wrong to report that Corporal Martinez shot Kent Martinez.
We regret this error and apologize unreservedly to the Corporal.
