22-year-old Jareth Craig, a resident of Racecourse Street in Belize City, is facing the consequences of a conviction for handling stolen goods after he was caught in possession of a stolen television.
Police say that 31-year-old Jermaine Ottley, a stevedore from East Collet Canal, reported to them that someone broke into his house on Saturday, and stole his 22-inch TV. On the following day, the cops searched Craig's house, where they found the stolen television.
They charged him with handling stolen goods, and he was arraigned today before Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford.
He pleaded guilty to the charge, and because he was a first-time offender, he was sentenced to pay a fine of $500 by October 8th. If he defaults, he will serve 3 months in jail.
