Man Dead After Casino Brawl
posted (August 8, 2019)
A Santa Cruz villager is dead tonight after a Placencia casino brawl. The report is that 3 brothers, including Everaldo Samaoya had a bit too much to drink and when the casino's security guard told them to put their liquor in a disposable cup, it incensed them and a fight broke out. The security guard was stabbed as well as Samaoya. Samaoya didn't survive the attack. At this point police don't have a much concrete details in this case.

ACP Joseph Myvette, Head, NCIB
"Placencia police were called to an area at a casino in Placencia where upon arrival they learned that there was an altercation earlier between the casino security guard one Darwin Castillo and three brothers one Everaldo Samaoya, 24, Marlon Samaoya and another brother. What we know is that those persons were inside the casino consuming alcohol and while leaving they were approached by the security guard who spoke to them in relation to certain rules. As a result this caused these persons to get upset where they got into an altercation and the security was pushed down. This however, did not end there, apparently the altercation continued to the back of the building which resulted in the security receiving chop wound or a cut wound to the left arm while Everlado Samaoya obviously received a stab wound to the right rib cage and was transported to the southern regional hospital where he later died undergoing treatment. Also injured was Marlon Samaoya who received a stab wound to his back. One person is in custody while police is conducting this investigation."

Reporter:
"What direction are you conducting this investigation from, is it just a death investigation at this point?"

ACP Joseph Myvette, Head, NCIB
"Yes it is a death investigation at this point in time."

Reporter:
"So do we know who inflicted the fatal stab wound."

ACP Joseph Myvette, Head, NCIB
"That is what we are trying to ascertain at this point in time."

Police are talking to the security guard as well as the casino owners to try and get more information. Police found a machete at the scene but it didn't have any blood. Police still collected it as evidence. Police believe there is another weapon that may have caused some of the injuries.
