Digi Diplomas

The DIGI scholarship program held its annual award ceremony today at the Radisson. The 25 new recipients are a very diverse group of bright and ambitious young students from all over the country. Over 600 students have already benefited from the Digi scholarship program since its inception in 1991 - and today we met the latest cohort.

"You have worked very hard and I want to congratulate you on this hard work and dedication that you put into your studies and the effort that you are exerting to excel and to push yourself. I also want to thank you parents because this is very much the achievement of the whole family. Your parents, your guardians, your families are very proud of you and they have invested a lot of effort and invested also lots of hopes into you and i see very bright faces here so i'm sure that you will really meet those expectations and make them very proud going forward and take the best possible advantage of these scholarships and the opportunities that the scholarship presents for you."

"As a good corporate citizen DIGI is always looking for ways to give back to the kids, and not just the kids community outreach we do a lot of things we recently had our summer camp program. We focus on a lot of community initiatives and of course we go into sports we go into ICT we recently had DIGI learn that we rolled out to 9 schools and we will be going into more schools so it's not just the scholarship program we have a host of activities that DIGI does as good corporate citizens."

"Well at school they'd just be like we have BTL scholarship forms if anyone wants to apply then you guys can apply I told my mom about it and then she encouraged me to get one so that we could fill it out and we could see like what God has for us."

"How did your parents feel when you received the scholarship?"

"I mean their really proud, i mean, they've seen me grow as an individual as a student and they've like encourage me a lot, they played an amazing role in my life that has helped me so much and I believe that without them I wouldn't be able to be here and especially without God I wouldn't be here."

"Where are you from?"

"St. Ignatius primary school."

"How did you hear about the scholarship?"

Diane Menjivar
"My school and my aunt works here."

Reporter
"How was it taking the P.S.E. This year?"

Diane Menjivar
"To me it was easy."

"What do you want to be when you grow up?"

Diane Menjivar
"Customs officer."

"Why?"

Diane Menjivar
"Because my uncle works there and he has a lot of money."

DIGI claims to have seen many successes from previous scholarship recipients a few of them have even become DIGI employees

The full scholarships are valued at $2000.00 per year which includes: Full tuition, textbooks, a uniform stipend and tutoring.
