Christians Says They Weren’t Protesting LGBT Pride Day At ITVET
posted (August 14, 2019)

On Monday night we had a recap of the LGBT community's Pride Day at the ITVET.  But while they held their Pride Fest inside, a group Christians held signs up outside on the sidewalk.  Now, none of those signs were gay bashing, not even close. But, the juxtaposition of the two groups caused many - police included - to conclude that it was a passive aggressive type protest.  Abigail Hoare was one those holding up a sign - and she says in no way was it intended to be any kind of protest.  It was just a coincidence:

Abigail Hoare - Christian Activist
"We never had any sign that spoke against gays, we never pointed any of the signs, they were all pro Christian messages which exactly states what we were out there doing, as we've always been doing in the entire city and outside of the city of Belize, evangelizing. Like I had said to you, it looks as if though indeed that it's something that we had timed. The truth is, I had posted on my Facebook page, we were not following pride schedule, we were not following any of their schedules, so we honestly did not know what was taking place. Belizeans, the truth of the matter is, it was a coincidence - believe it or not, that is truth and that is truth."

Jules Vasquez
"You can see how another conclusion could be drawn, especially in view of the fact that many Christians have pursued very strident anti-gay messaging."

Abigail Hoare
"Whether the community of pride believes it or not, whether the community of Belize City believes it or not or the country believes it or not, we did not plan - oh they are going to be out there, so we should be out there. That's the truth, punto final."

Hoare says they found out about the Pride event on the day of their pre-planned evangelizing event.
