Reported Rape in Belmopan Implicates Music Producer
posted (August 14, 2019)

Tonight, police are investigating a complaint from a woman who claims that she was raped by 2 men at a party.

She told police that on Monday night, she was taken to this party in the Tiger Town area of Belmopan. She was socializing with the other party-goers, having a few drinks, when a bearded man engaged her in a conversation about music. He allegedly invited her into the house, and then into a bedroom because the music at the party was too loud for conversation. She said when she did, he assaulted her and then forced himself on her.

The victim told police that he then raped her, and when he was finished, another man came into the room and he then reportedly then forced himself on her and raped her as well.

She told police that she fought both of her assailants, and during the second ordeal, she was able to escape from that man. She then quickly pulled her underwear up, ran out to look for something to defend herself, and that's when she spotted a friend, who took her to the hospital, where she reported the incident to a female police officer. She is now requesting court action for the alleged rape.

Police investigated her report, and they charged 21-year-old Denzel Usher and 23-year-old Devin “DJ Perfâ€￾ Peyrefitte with the charge of rape. They were arraigned today in the Belmopan Magistrate’s Court, where they both pleaded not guilty. The sitting magistrate remanded them into custody until a date in October for their next adjournment.

But, Peyrefitte’s family is disputing the rape charges. They say that the medical examination has shown that there was no rape. Usher's family is also alleging that the complainant did give consent to the intercourse.
