But as we said, all the China talk today was in the context of the 50 million US dollar mega loan from the Taiwanese. It's to upgrade the 40 plus mile Corozal - Sarteneja Road - which is one of the worst in Belize - and a road that also has two ferries which will be replaced with bridges.
The area representative Florencio Marin Junior said he welcomes it - because he is confident that while the UDP will start it, the PUP will finish it:...

What you should have done sir was to get up and join with this UDP government and say to the people of Corozal Southeast, my father and I failed you all for 30 years and this one is getting it done in 11 years without a UDP area representative."

I want to say thank you on behalf of the people of Belize, but even more so, I want to say thank you to them for this: for realizing that you all are the addicts that you are. What they are not telling the Belizean people is that this money is not coming to them the way Petro Caribe came to them and the way they squandered it like a bonanza. Belize it or not Belize, this 50 million US dollars is going to Guatemala, to a company set up in Guatemala by the Taiwanese. So now not even the Taiwanese trust this government with money."
Bridges will be constructed at Pueblo Nuevo and Laguna Seca for the twenty year loan.
