Sinsonte Suspect Still At Large
posted (August 22, 2019)

We turn now to Monday night’s shooting of 44-year-old Brian Chavarria. He’s the mechanic from Sinsonte Street in Belmopan who was gunned down, allegedly by one of his friends.

As we reported, Chavarria was socializing with several friends at his home, which is also his mechanic shop. He allegedly got into an argument with one of those friends, and he asked everyone to leave. For some unknown reason, one of those men returned to continue the confrontation, and, during the quarrel, that man allegedly pulled out a weapon and shot him in the chest.

Police are still looking for that suspect:

ACP Joseph Myvette - Head NCIB
"So far, we still continue to seek one person in relation to that investigation, which is shooting of Bryan Chavarria, which had occurred in Belmopan on Monday last, I believe. That person is still not yet in our custody."

"Sir, can police speak to the motive of that shooting, if in fact, the person that is wanted in that incident is from Belize City?"

ACP Joseph Myvette
"No, I will not go into where he is from, other than to say that what was reported is that a group of persons was socializing along with Mr. Chavarria at his home when apparently, an argument started, and they were asked to leave. Shortly thereafter, one of those male persons did return, and continued this argument with Mr. Chavarria, resulting in the said male person taking out a firearm and firing that shot toward Mr. Chavarria."

Chavarria remains at the Western Regional Hospital.
