Family Wants Answers For Man Found Drowned
posted (August 23, 2019)
The body of a Belize City man was found floating off Turneffe Atoll - and, tonight, his family wants answers.

32 year old Micheal Hyde's body was discovered yesterday. The last his family knew, he had gone out to Turneffe to work as a watchman.

On Tuesday, a colleague of Hyde's informed the owner of the Island that he was missing.

His grieving family told us that it was only after they filed a missing person's report that Hyde's sister was escorted to the island by Police to identify the body.

Thelma Bahadur, Aunt of the deceased
"He went to the key last week Thursday, right? Was it last week Thursday? Yes last week Thursday and then we heard the watchman told the owner of the Caye when he went out there that the young man has been missing since Tuesday. So what happened, they said they found a body at about 5:30 yesterday evening which is Thursday. And when they found the body they came for a family member because we were the only people who had filed a missing report and then when the sister went out she learned that it was her brother."

"The took him for a security for a watchman job and he doesn't usually do watchman jobs he usually does electrical. He climbs posts and things, private but he just went out there to go an do this watchman job."

Cherisse Halsall, reporter
"He had never had any connections with any drug trafficking or anything like that?"

Thelma Bahadur, Aunt of the deceased
"Nobody, nothing, nothing he was strictly strang along, he doesn't do drugs or anything he didn't even smoke weed or anything like that."

"He was a nice friendly person he was everyone's neighbor around here."

"Well everybody feels it right now because he was the only handyman around the place, didn't matter where you told him to go he would get there."

Lincon Tucker, Uncle of the deceased
"I just want to know who is responsible for my nephew's death and justice will be served by the name of God."

"He was my nephew somebody has to be responsible for him. My nephew could swim, he could dive. It could have never died of drowning."

"He liked to drink but otherwise he could swim. Someone hurt my nephew. They took his life. A life for a life, Eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth. Only god will tell the truth."

Initial and unofficial reports say that a post mortem is inconclusive and no signs of foul play could be detected.

Hyde had no children.
