On Best Behavior, Local Operators Still Have to Scrap
posted (August 23, 2019)
But, try telling that to local operators, who are hustling for scraps on the outside of the Fort Street tourism village - while the Lion's share of the visitors are whisked away by operators on the inside.

The BTB has put them to jump through all kinds of hoops to bring up that very same guest satisfaction rating. But, while they have complied, their earnings have not increased commensurately. And, now with Norwegian ships diverted down south, they are on the outside looking in.

Gamero says they are collaborating to enhance that all important "guest experience":

Noriko Gamero, Director of Cruise & Destination Planning, BTB
"The tour operators that we have, the independent tour operators we have on the outside I think we have had a series of stakeholder meetings with them for a couple of years now I have to sat now that I applaud them for the efforts and strides that they have done over the years, they have been amazing in regards to working in a collaborative manner, to make sure that their pricings are back up and they are working together in making sure that they work on a rotation basis for fairness across the board, under the new leadership of the association, they have really really I have to say have collaborated with us at the BTB and just overall with stakeholders to improve the guest experience which we keep hearing over and over how important it is for the destination."
