Cherisse Halsall went west to speak to his terrified wife.

This is the house on Cemetery Road in a residential neighborhood in Santa Elena where 35 year old Nelson Flores was killed by an intruder last night - in front of his wife and children. Fearing for her life, his wife told us what happened off camera:

"After 9 There was a guy ran into the house and started to shoot, but afterwards when I looked it was my husband that he shot on the chair. I was in the kitchen and after that he shot him in the head. He shot him in the temple. I guess he fired about seven shots and he shot my daughter too."

"Was he aiming at her?"

"Yeah. Then from there I dropped behind the table and afterwards it looked like he didn't get enough. So he went over to my husband pressed down on his belly and shot him where he was on the ground. And then he went through the front door."

Police say the gunman wore black with a motorcycle helmet over his head - and came in through the back door:

"A male persons dressed in black clothing, wearing a motorcycle helmet entered the home through the back door inquiring about Mr. Flores and in the process he got into a struggle with Mr. Flores 14 year old son and from there he made his way into the living room where he fired several shots."

Investigators noted that there was evidence of drug trafficking at the scene, and added that Flores - known as Quackie has been searched before:

"The processing of the scene did reveal some different amounts of marijuana which has not yet been processed. What I can say is that his home was searched several times and I believe he has a matter before the court in relation to drugs."

And while that is the police account, his wife says he was a family man:

"He was a family man, you know, he doesn't go anywhere. He went from work to home. He wasn't anyone that troubled anyone. He was a family man they didn't need to do that to him to do that to his daughter. He leaves behind 6 children. But God is not asleep, you do that to we somebody will come back and do that to your family, and you will ask yourself why. But God is not asleep. God is seeing everything that's happening. Innocent people that don't know, u know, they come and hurt. They took away my husband's life and they didn't need to do that."

And while the family mourns the loss, this mother is grateful that her daughter is in stable condition:

"She's doing better today, thank god. She is stable right now, but she will get better."

As you heard, Flores was the father to 6 children - a number of them were at home at the time of the attack.

The Police are seeking a male suspect.
