Man Shot After Dispute Between Families
posted (August 26, 2019)
A 53 year old was shot in the Belama Phase 4 area on Saturday night.

It happened around 7:15 when 53-year-old, Jaime Williams, was shot to the leg, while his companion 21-year-old, Elizabeth Williams was grazed.

Police say it all started with a dispute between two families:

Supt. Alejandro Cowo, O.C., C.I.B., Belize City
"What we understand is that Mr. Williams was inside of his yard along with other friends socializing when someone approached him and fired shots at their direction, causing him to receive a gunshot injury to his body. He was treated and he was discharged on the following morning. So far police have two persons in custody and are questioning them in regards to this shooting incident."

"What we understand is that earlier in the evening there was an altercation among two groups of families in that location and that is what we believe had led to this shooting."

No arrest have been made.
