Aside from this injunction, Hol Chan is also busy working on new research on sargassum. The Technical Manager for Hol Chan, Kirah Castillo says it is a very new initiative so she can't go into too much detail.

"Last year we assisted the University of Belize with collecting data on sargassum and so we have been approached again this year to continue that work and make it more a bit more formal in terms of them collecting and looking at sargassum and the effects of sargassum to the reef I don't want to get too much into it because really it is new and we are just starting the initial discussion as to how we will work together on this effort."
