So, the cops must now investigate and weigh criminal charges against one of their own for his involvement in this accident that now has Rejinaldo Ruiz in a coma.

This afternoon, the Head of the Criminal Investigation's Branch told the press that they've already taken a urine sample from him, and he's been issued with a notice of intended prosecution. Here are the details he shared with us about the case:

ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
"Yesterday evening shortly after 5pm, Roaring Creek police was called to an area between miles 44 and 45 on the George Price Highway where upon arrival they observed a red tricycole on the right hand side of the highway when traveling east extensively damage and also a short distance away they observe a mark police Wingle, grey in color with damages to the right front portion. What we know so far is that both vehicles were travelling in the same direction when the driver of the of police vehicle, Inspector Clifton Jones attempted to overtake the tricycle and in the process, the tricycle was hit from behind causing the rider to be thrown. He was identified as Rejinald Ruiz, 60 years of a Camalote Village address. He was transported to the western regional hospital and later to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he remains ina critical condition. So far Mr Jones' statement was taken. He also gave a urine sample and one will also be taken from the driver of the tricycle. Mr. Jones was also served with a notice of intended prosecution pending the outcome of the investigation."

The family of Rejinaldo Ruiz tells us that they will be closely following the way police handle the case, since it's one of their own who knocked him down.
