A man and his wife are fortunate to be alive after they were attacked in their village home. The home invasion happened on Saturday night in San Lazaro, and Police told us more.

"Orange Walk police was called to San Lazaro village to the home of Romeo Castillo where he reported to police that sometime between 10:00pm on the said Saturday, his home was entered into by three male persons of dark complexion two of whom had their faces covered and they were also armed with firearms while the third person did not have his face covered. Upon entering his home, he was attacked by those persons where he was beaten and stabbed and in the process his home was ransacked, his wife also received injuries. A number of items were stolen including monies so far we are following several leads in relation to this investigation."

"Can you speak to how the premises was breached and as well the severity of injuries the gentleman sustained?"

"The injuries did not seem life threatening based on the investigators account. The home obviously was entered through by means of the back entrance."
Police couldn't say what the attackers were looking for.
